Competition authorities in Brussels have given the green light to the Angola LNG joint venture as the project gears up to ship out its first cargo.

The European Commission said the JV by UK-headquartered BP, Chevron of the US, Italy’s Eni, French supermajor Total and Angola’s  Sonangol raises no competition concerns.

“Although three of the parent companies hold capacity rights in re-gasification terminals in the European Economic Area, they will not be able to shut out third parties from accessing them because EU law ensures third party access to gas import infrastructures, including re-gasification terminals,” the EC said in its decision.
