Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company has signed a new long term sales and purchase agreement with Qatargas.
The outfit will purchase an additional 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG from the export giant, with volumes kicking off from August.
Tepco already has a long-term deal to import LNG from Qatargas but said it has topped up at the company to help meet its needs after “increased thermal power generation following the earthquake disaster”.
