Tokyo Electric Power Company plans to increase LNG consumption by 1.9% in the current fiscal year.
The Japanese utility will hike LNG use to 23.3 million tonnes in the 12-month period ending March 2013, compared to 22.9 million tonnes in the last fiscal year, Reuters reported.
Tepco has ramped up LNG buying dramatically since an earthquake and tsunami hobbled its Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March of last year.
