LNG imports to Taiwan have held above 1 million tonnes per month since April as the fuel is proving a relatively cheap energy option for the island despite rising prices.
Asia’s number-three importer is on track to boost purchases by roughly 9% year-on-year in 2011, according to government figures to end-July and early estimates for August by Houston-based consultancy Waterborne Energy.
