South Korea’s government said the country will divert LNG cargoes to supply earthquake-stricken Japan.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said the diversions will take place beginning late this month and into April.
Japan is expected to seek a rush of LNG cargoes to make up for damaged nuclear power capacity after last week’s 8.9-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami battered the country.
Japanese utilities asked state-run Korea Gas Corporation for help after the disaster.
