Shell has signed an initial agreement with the Philippines to potentially build an LNG import terminal project in the country.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the Anglo-Dutch supermajor’s Pilipinas Shell Petroleum arm will carry out a feasibility study into a regasification facility at Tabangao in Batangas.
The terminal would be adjacent to a Shell refinery in Luzon island’s south.
“This memorandum of understanding is indicative of our support to the Philippine government’s aspiration to diversify its energy sources as embodied in its natural gas master plan,” Shell finance chief Simon Henry said.
