Qatargas has forged a heads of agreement to supply LNG to the trading arm of Malaysia’s Petronas.
The LNG production giant said the deal will see it deliver 1.5 million tonnes per annum over 20 years.
The deliveries to Petronas LNG will begin in 2013, following the start-up of Malaysia’s first LNG terminal.
Qatargas said the deal marks the first heads of agreement with South East Asia, although the producer signed a memorandum of understanding in 2008 to supply Thailand’s PTT with 1 million tpa.
