Petronas is targeting its existing Asian customer base as potential off-takers for LNG from a planned liquefaction plant in British Columbia.
The Malaysian state energy company is working with Canadian explorer Progress Energy to develop the export project.
Petronas is charged with selling the plant’s output and is planning to engage with existing “major off-takers” to secure 20 year-plus agreements, according to a Progress Energy presentation this week.
Big players such as China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation, along with Japanese buyers Tokyo Electric Power Company, Tokyo Gas and Osaka Gas, rank among customers at the Malaysian company’s domestic Bintulu plant.
