The Japanese island of Okinawa has received its first cargo of LNG.
Okinawa Electric Power Company said it unloaded 65,000 tonnes of the fuel from the 145,000-cbm vessel LNG Dream (built 2006) after a nine-day voyage from Australia.
The utility receives its volumes under a sales deal with compatriot Osaka Gas.
The 400,000 tonnes per annum agreement lasts 27 years.
Okinawa Electric plans to start operations of the first unit of its Yoshinoura gas-fired power plant later this year.
It
