India’s largest power company, NTPC, is in talks with government-owned gas distributor Gail (India) over the purchase of regasified LNG.
The generator is considering sourcing the volumes on a long-term basis to power its own projects, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
NTPC Chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said the company will only source regasified LNG from Gail if it gets electricity buyers who agree to the higher prices that accompany imported gas.
