- LNG shipments through the Suez Canal almost halved in July due to lower imports into the UK. PanEurasian Enterprises told Bloomberg that cargoes passing through the canal dropped to 1.85 million tonnes, from 3.6 million tonnes a year ago. Higher demand in Japan and rising prices in Asia have been blamed for reduced European shipments.
- Freight rates for vessels carrying short-term LNG cargoes dropped to an average of $135,000 per day last month.
