Brunei LNG’s first renewal contracts are a sign that the exports old guard are continuing to lose their footing. Japan’s major buyers will still be there after existing deals expire next year but they will be taking fewer cargoes over a shorter period of time.
Korea Gas is still working to renew its contract at the facility, and while the world’s largest corporate buyer of LNG wants even more from Brunei it is pushing for just a short to medium-term agreement.
