Argentina may already be paying a high price for nationalising YPF.

Repsol, majority owner of the Argentine oil and gas player, has cancelled at least one scheduled LNG cargo destined for the South American nation and may axe more.

Buenos Aires-controlled utility Enarsa awarded six cargoes recently at prices around $3.50 per million British thermal units higher than prior Repsol deals.

So far it is not clear whether the Spanish company will get fair compensation for YPF, a situation that threatens consequences beyond a few LNG cargoes.

Gas-hungry Argentina still needs LNG this year and will eventually be in the market for up to 50 shipments for 2013.
