Japan boosted its imports by 18% in the first half of this year, according to trade statistics.
The country’s Ministry of Finance said some 44.6 million tonnes of LNG was shipped in during the January to end-June period.
Supplies from the Middle East and Russia rose while volumes from the Asia fell as contracts were terminated and there proved little capacity for additional cargoes.
