Japan’s power utilities imported 27% more LNG in December than a year earlier as consumption of the fuel rose by 32%.
The Federation of Electric Power Companies reported that the top utilities bought 5 million tonnes of LNG, compared to 3.9 million tonnes in the same month in 2010.
Usage also shot up to 5 million tonnes from 3.8 million tonnes.
