A consortium led by Tokyo Electric Power Company has signed onthe dotted line to buy an 8% stake in the Chevron-led Wheatstone LNG project.

The Japanese partners will also take 10% of the upstream gasfields, and Tepco will buy an additional 400,000 tonnes per annum from theAustralian export plant.

Under the deal, the utility will own 8% of the newly formedPE Wheatstone joint venture.
