Japan’s LNG imports in July rose by 11.6% in comparison withthe same month the previous year.

The country’s finance ministry said LNG shipments reached 7.15 million tonnes.

LNG flows to Japan surged after anearthquake and tsunami last March devastated Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

LNG has largelyfilled the energy gap since then. The only fuel to see more growth than LNG in July was coalwhich grew by 18% compared with last year.
