Japan’s Finance Ministry data show that LNG imports rose to a record last month.
The world’s largest LNG market brought in nearly 7.55 million tonnes of the fuel, an 18.2% rise on August 2010.
The figures are continued confirmation of Japan’s hunger for LNG following the March earthquake and tsunami that set off a crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
