Japan’s LNG imports surged more than any other fuel in April.
Finance Ministry data showed 6.61 million tonnes of LNG brought in during the month, up by 14.9% on April 2011.
The figures proved how heavily Japan continues to rely on LNG amid the nationwide nuclear shutdown.
Crude imports jumped by 12.9% in April, while liquefied petroleum gas saw a 7.7% increase.
