Japanese LNG buyers are considering deals to buy LNG from three US import terminal operators that are pursuing export projects.
They are considering purchases at Dominion Cove Point in Maryland, Sempra’s Cameron LNG in Louisiana and Michael Smith-run Freeport LNG in Texas, said Hisayoshi Ando, director general of natural resources and fuel at Japan’s Trade Ministry.
All three terminals are awaiting US Department of Energy approval for LNG exports to countries that do not have a free trade agreement with the United States.
