Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked state governments to cut taxes on regasified LNG.
In a letter to a committee of state finance ministers, he has asked for a drop in the value added tax on natural gas sales from 12% to 5%.
The committee is expected to discuss the request next week, The Economic Times reports.
The move is seen as a potential help for LNG importers, as it would reduce the cost downstream customers pay for natural gas.
