Indian Finance Minister PranabMukherjee has proposed exempting LNG from basic customs duties.
In his annual budget speech, theofficial said imported natural gas, coal, uranium concentrate and sintereduranium dioxide should also get the break.
The measure is aimed at easingthe burden faced by the country’s power producers when they need to buyimported fuel.
The exemption would last two years.
India is home of two terminalscurrently under operations and two more slated for commissioning this year.
