Government-owned Gail (India) is due to buy more than 16 spot LNG cargoes in the next fiscal year as it aims to feed the soon-to-be commissioned Dabhol terminal.

The BC Tripathi-led outfit has imported 16 shipments during the current year and expects these volumes to grow, a Gail marketing executive said in media reports.

The increase in LNG imports is due to a lack of progress in upping production from the gas fields in the domestic KG D6 block.
