European utilities may be forced off the sidelines in a tightening long-term LNG market as a supply/demand gap emerges on the continent.



A shortage of more than 100 billion cubic metres per annum is being forecast for Europe’s gas market by 2025, PFC Energy analyst Nikos Tsafos told clients at a private London event this week.



“This absence of Europe from the global LNG market as a buyer will have to correct itself in order to meet that growing supply/demand imbalance,” he said.
