China bumped up its LNG imports in June by 16% year-on-year and by 29% across the first half of 2012.
The country brought in 1.21 million tonnes at $602 per tonne in June, according to customs data.
Volumes from January to June also rose to 6.7 million tonnes, with an average cost of $549 per tonne.
