Asian LNG imports surged in April as a result of Japan’s massive earthquake and continued recovery in the region’s economies.
Texas-based LNG trackers at Waterborne Energy said the region brought in 20.4% more LNG compared to April 2010.
It was the 19th consecutive month with a year-on-year jump.
Japan alone imported an estimated 6.65 million tonnes during the period, up 23.1% a year earlier.
