European terminals have posted a second month of slumping imports so far this year and the declines are expected to continue.

“Effectively 2011 was the peak year in terms of LNG imports for Europe,” said Massimo Di Odoardo, European gas and power analyst for Edinburgh-based consultancy Wood Mackenzie.

Continent-wide, 2012 imports could fall by 5 billion to 10 billion cubic metres as higher prices in Asia draw away cargoes, he said.
