Australia’s LNG exporters have slammed a new government carbon tax policy, arguing that the levy will put them at a disadvantage.
The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association said the tax falls short in protecting competitiveness of LNG exports.
It recognises the role gas plays domestically in reducing carbon emissions but fails to acknowledge export LNG’s contribution to emissions reduction, the oil and gas industry body said.
