Probulk Carriers is seeking a US court judgment against Levent Karacelik and Eregli Shipping over a 2013 arbitration award that remains unpaid.
The New York bulker owner's court action seeks to force the defendants to pay $12.8m plus interest allegedly owed by another Karacelik company, Marvel International Management and Transportation.
The case in the federal court for the Southern District of New York is the latest wrinkle in a long battle over Marvel's 2008 subcharter of the 42,000-dwt bulker Ioanthi (built 1992), which Probulk had on time charter.
