Lawyers for two Angelakos Hellas crewmen convicted in an oil dumping case argue that their clients should not go to prison.

The attorneys said in court papers today that probation is the appropriate sentence for chief engineer Konstantinos Chrysovergis and second engineer Tryfon Angelou.

As TradeWinds has reported, the two Greek men, Greek bulker operator Angelakos and shipowner Gallia Graeca Shipping were convicted in a US federal court in June over crimes associated with oily waste dumping from the 74,100-dwt bulker Gallia Graeca (built 2001) off Seattle.
