The UK and the Marshall Islands are pushing the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to reach a deal reducing shipping’s carbon dioxide emissions.
UK shipping minister Nusrat Ghani and the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ environment minister David Paul released the joint statement ahead of the Friday conclusion on the 72nd meeting of the Marine Environment Protection
Both countries are calling for the IMO to play its full part in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gases in the spirit of the Paris Agreement on climate change, according to the statement.
