A Greek bulker has been acquitted of pollution offences after a Japanese shipbuilder was blamed for defects that caused a bunker spill in Canada in 2015.
The 81,000-dwt Marathassa (built 2015) faced 10 environmental charges, including alleged violations under the Fisheries Act and the Canadian Environment Protection Act.
The ship was linked to Alassia NewShips Management, but the company is not the owner, but merely a manager.
