Two shipping companies have been slapped with European Union sanctions for violating the United Nations arms embargo on Libya — including one accused of shipping tanks to the war-torn country.
Med Wave Shipping, which had its 1,320-lane-metre car carrier Bana (built 1980) arrested in Italy in February, will have its assets frozen in EU countries alongside Turkey-based Avrasya Shipping after the European Council imposed the measures on Monday.
