The Singapore Court of Appeal has granted Cosco Shipping Specialised Carriers protection from being sued in Indonesia by paper manufacturer OKI Pulp & Paper Mills (OKI Pulp).

All complaints and claims will be settled in Singapore instead, the courts decided, basing their judgment on nine bills of lading on the cargo, according to court documents obtained by TradeWinds.

The cargo comprised 27,000 metric tonnes of air-dried bleached hardwood kraft pulp acacia, a key component of cardboard and other paper products.
