In the geopolitical powder keg that is the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, Iranian seizures of vessels have been a growing problem as the country has nabbed dozens of ships in recent years, many to retaliate against Western or Arab nations.
But the last two seizures by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps offered a new reason for the aggressive actions, as the nation’s forces purportedly grabbed the vessels in response to legal disputes in the country’s courts.
