Japanese shipowner K Line is offloading its towage unit Daito Corporation for a gain of JPY 14.1bn ($134m).
The company also has harbour transport, shipping agency and real estate interests.
K Line said it made the move "to seek efficient utilisation of business resources" as well as to strengthen its financial position.
It decided to sell after reviewing its assets.
