Russian victims and salvors of major oil spills from two tankers that broke up on a single day in the Kerch Strait will not be given an immediate payout from a global compensation fund.
The International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds) has been unable to send its lawyers and experts to Russia to verify the extent of the losses because of sanctions, director Gaute Sivertsen told a marine insurance gathering in Oslo.
