Tied up against the quayside at PaxOcean Group's Pertama shipyard on the Indonesian island of Batam, the 83,500-dwt bulker Ikan Bawal (built 2012) appears to be a very ordinary ship.
Operated by Pacific Carriers on a bareboat lease from Nippon Shipping, it seems no different to the many other bulkers that can be seen transiting the nearby Singapore Strait.
There is one difference though.
