UK insurer the International Transport Intermediaries Club (ITIC) has told shipping agents to be on their guard when cargo owners cannot present bills of lading during the coronavirus crisis.
It has issued advice setting out the steps they should take to protect their interests should consignees not be able to provide documentation.
ITIC said that with lockdowns continuing around the world, port agents may be asked to deliver goods without a bill of lading being handed over.
