Hapag-Lloyd has become the latest liner company to add a war risk surcharge for shipping containers into the Middle East Gulf.
“As a result of recent maritime incidents that took place in the Strait of Hormuz, our operating costs for our services in the region have increased,” it said.
As a result, the German container giant said it will implement a vessel risk surcharge of $42 per teu as of 15 July 2019.
