The International Group clubs have issued a warning that side agreements to the Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) salvage contract may potentially invalidate protection-and-indemnity cover.
Shipowners are being strongly advised to check such agreements with their P&I clubs to avoid cover being jeopardised.
The International Group’s salvage sub-committee is investigating the prevalence of LOF side agreements but preliminary indications are that they are common.
