State authorities failed to carry out checks on Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge that would have revealed its vulnerability to collapse after being struck by a ship, according to US investigators.
The structure was almost 30 times over the acceptable level of risk for essential bridges when struck by the 9,962-teu Dali (built 2015), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found.
