The Energy Observer project plans to have its first zero-emission liquid hydrogen and wind-propelled multipurpose (MPP) cargo ship in operation by 2026.

The ship will be operated by CMA CGM, although it has not yet committed to any specific operation or chartering contract.

Louis-Noel Vivies, Energy Observer’s managing director, told TradeWinds that the project to build the 5,000-dwt zero-emission liquid hydrogen and wind-propelled MPP cargo ship, tentatively named Energy Observer 2, has moved into its second phase, and tender documents will be sent to shipyards in June.
