Concern is mounting that the International Maritime Organization is heading toward a “lame” compromise deal on emissions reduction at critical negotiations this week.
Sources said that a working group that has been entrusted to come up with a deal by Friday’s deadline is discussing a reduction target of between 50% and 70% of the 2008 peak year by 2050, but seemed to be heading toward the lower figure.
