Greek courts are preparing to auction a 46-year old ferry that has been languishing in lay-up near Piraeus for the past six years.

The 5,600-gt Penelope A (built 1972) will come under the hammer on 6 February. The minimum reserve price for the ship has been set at EUR 800,000 ($906,700).

Shipbrokers who follow the European ferry sector tell TradeWinds that the ships age, combined with its long lay-up may result in the ship attracting interest mostly from shiprecyclers.
