Wartsila is launching a trial of a predictive maintenance software system on two NYK Line LNG carriers.
The Finnish technology group said it could supply the Expert Insight artificial intelligence (AI) kit to all of the giant shipowner's 415 vessels if the pilot goes well.
Wartsila is working with Japan's Monohakobi Technology Institute on the trial.
The Finnish company revealed on Tuesday that the agreement was signed in January.
