Increasing fixture levels for VLGCs are pushing up rates once more in a volatile sector.

The Baltic Exchange’s VLGC index closed on Thursday at $60 per tonne, or $25,750 per day, up nearly 7% from Wednesday and 78% higher month on month.

Fearnley Securities said activity is picking up again after a quiet period for the large gas carriers.

A handful of Asian spot deals have been concluded in the high-$50-per-tonne range for liftings between 10 and 20 April.
