Tristar Group of Dubai has made its first move into the LNG sector with the purchase of a vessel from BP Shipping.
The company has taken delivery of BP’s 155,000-cbm British Ruby (built 2008), one of two Gem-class LNG carriers the oil major offered up for sale on charter-back deals back in October 2018.
BP went out for offers on the dual-fuel diesel-electric (DFDE) pair on the basis of five-year time charters back to the company at rates in the range of $51,000 to $57,000 per day.
