At least four uncommitted and speculatively-ordered LNG carrier newbuildings have been fixed to large traders and others are being flagged as being “well positioned” in a hot market where new requirements are continuing to emerge.
Brokers said upwards of 40 LNG carrier newbuildings to be delivered from 2020 onwards currently appear to be open and unfixed, of which 15 are due for handover next year.
