The Economou group is expanding its orderbook for LNG carriers just a few weeks after announcing the sale of its four VLGCs.
Brokers and shipbuilding sources are reporting that TMS Cardiff Gas founder Christos Economou, son of group principal George Economou, has ordered a further 174,000-cbm LNG carrier at Samsung Heavy Industries that is scheduled for delivery in 2021. No further details have emerged concerning its cost or whether it is backed by secure employment.
